Translating poems is a field where sharp debates were raised due to their linguistic, stylistic and semantic features.
Issues are multiplied, when it comes to children’s poems, due to their educational and guiding functions.
In view of this, the aim of this paper is to test to what extent the ethical translation presented by Antoine Berman can be applied in achieving such equations.
To serve this objective, we have translated two classical children’s poems to reveal that the use of this theory principles, both ethnocentric translation and hypertextuality, is relatively limited when it comes to children living in particular social and religious parameters.
