Abstract EN

This study emphasises the aspects of life that existed in the “Chlef community” during the beginning of the twentieth century and explores its various aspects at different levels mainly cultural, moral, and cognitive.

Besides, the study is based on Algerian travellers’ descriptions of life at that time.

As a witness, the traveller analyses all facets of life of any society and gives a significant description to its evolution.
