Abstract EN

Islamic banks used different funding formats , to achieve it investment objectives.

These funding formats could be based many concepts, like Musharakah (joint venture) and Mudarabah, which means the participation in the ownership of the project funded between Islamic bank and its customer, which became the owner of the project.

Moreover, there are some funding formats which are based on the concept of indebtedness such as Murabaha that leads to fixed debt owed on the client beneficiary from the funding.

However, it is noted that the funding formats based on the concept of indebtedness has dominated most of the Islamic banks transactions.

While some modes based on the concept of ownership such as Mudarabah and modes of agricultural finance are non-existent or not used at all.

There was also the belief that the formats based on the concept of indebtedness such as Murabaha are consuming commercial formats , and does not give any benefit for the economy and development.

Accordingly, we will try through this study to know whether all the funding formats based on the concept of Indebtedness used by Islamic banks, or set in their foundational systems are a developmental formats or not?
