This research paper aims at calculating the real effective exchange rate of the Algerian currency (dinar) as an indicator which measures the cost of competitiveness ability of Algerian products with the trading partners: The distinguishing feature of this study is that it to neutralizes the Algerian exports in the composition of the index.

The major part of the Algerian exportations is composed of oil products, which the real price is determined in the international markets away from the value of the Algerian dinar.

The other part of the Algerian exportations is very tiny compared to the great value of importations.

This study resulted in the explanation of the real effective exchange rate of the Algerian dinar .

and the variables controlling it.
