Abstract EN
This paper is entitled ''Salahaddin University Instructors' and Students' Reflections on Teaching Sociopragmatic Skills''.
It aims at identifying instructors' and students' perceptions on teaching sociopragmatic skills.
It was conducted on two EFL instructors who teach advanced conversation as well as eight of their third year students who were chosen randomly for the purpose of the study in two colleges, namely, College of Education and College of Basic Education at Salahaddin University-Erbil.
A qualitative method has been employed for this study and the data has been collected through interviewing students as well as instructors.
The findings of the research revealed that the instructors regarded sociopragmatic skills as an essential part of teaching in EFL classes, whereas the students seemed to be more interested in learning such linguistic aspects as grammar and vocabulary than the sociopragmatic ones.
Moreover, the instructors have adopted the communicative language teaching approach for teaching sociopragmatic skills in their classes.
