Abstract EN

The issue of Gharaniq (Crane-the Satanic Verses) is one of the extraneous issues in the interpretation of the Holy Quran, where some interpreters (of the Quran’s meanings) mentioned in their interpretations claiming that the Prophet — may the prayers of Allah be upon him, his family members and his companions — once approached the polytheists by praising their idols.

They claimed that the Prophet said about the polytheists' idols, after reading the following verse: “Have you then considered the Lat and the 'Uzza; and Manat, the third, the last? (Suratul Najm (53) Verse 19,20), “They are beautiful, high-ranking birds, and their intercession is anticipated.” They also claimed that the polytheists declared their satisfaction with what the Prophet recited and when the Prophet went into prostration, the polytheists too prostrated.

This study revolves on the pleasant message authored by Ahmed ibn Abd al-Fattah al-Molawwi al-Azhari, the polymath, which came to us after editing its content based on commentaries of different religious scholars of Hadith narrators and Quran-meaning interpreters.

He proved the story of Gharaniq to be false and rather fabricated.

The following research paper has been divided into two sections.

The first section includes a biography about the personal and scientific life of the message author, a study of the message, a statement of its subject, documenting its attestation to its author, a description of the written version, and a method of investigation.

The second section ensures that the recorded text is published, checked and commented on.
