English Abstract

This study aims to identifying the extent of dependency in the local government sector in the Gaza Strip on the internet of things, and clarifying the facilities and challenges facing this accreditation.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the study followed the mixed-method approach.

The questionnaire was designed by the researcher as a main tool for collecting data.

The sample includes 380 employees were employed at the various administrative levels in the local authorities in the Gaza Strip.

They were selected using a simple random sampling method and retrieved from the questionnaires (359) with a recovery rate of 94.5%, Interviews to support and explain some of the study findings and answering research questions and were conducted with the Palestinian Working Group of Decisionmakers in the Palestinian municipalities and the Ministry of Local Government.

The results of this study indicate that the employees of the local authorities in the Gaza Strip believe that organizational factors, technological factors, environmental factors, relative advantage, safety and political factors are all important and must be taken into account when relying on the concept of Internet of things in the local government sector.

There were statistically significant differences between the respondents' responses about the factors to be taken into account in the local government sector related to the Internet of things.

The variables are due to )gender, age, scientific qualification, field of specialization, total years of experience, and managerial level).

This study recommends providing adequate legal protection in applying the concept of Internet of things in the local authorities in the Gaza Strip, in order to avoid any problems that may occur in the future and to develop and update the technological systems that currently in place in the local authorities in the Gaza Strip.

Also it recommend the rapid development of the local authorities in the Gaza Strip to implement the concept of Internet of things in order to establish a competitive position in this field compared with the institutions that operating in the Gaza Strip and local regional bodies.

In addition to the formation of a specialized committee where its members will be representatives of all departments and local departments of the Authority to determine the services and activities that must take advantage of applying Internet of Things.
