The term "coherence", is one of the categories of textual linguistics evokes notions, conceptions and aspirations that have not yet reached unanimity, this is explained by the diversity of references and the multiplicity of its epistemological supports.
Moreover, an exploitation of this term in the ancient Arabic studies confirms a certain presence of the notion of coherence among rhetoricians, critics and exegetes under various neighboring names.
Thus, it is correct to say that coherence had a certain importance for them but it is exaggerated to pretend that there was a theorization.
But among contemporaneous, coherence is a fundamental notion in any textual analysis.
