Abstract EN

This study, titled “Body Language in Pre-Islamic Poetry – Almunakhil Alyashkhuari /r/ rhymed poem as a model” aims at exploring the connotations of body language in this poem.

Semiotic and interpretational analysis of the poem reveals the poet expertise and talent in adapting body language, what makes this poem a model representing the use of such language in Pre-Islamic poetry.

Deep and intense analysis of this poem through applying modern critical approach related to this language reveals many signs and symbols referring to the body movement and its feminine and aesthetic feathers.

This paper comes in an introduction and three sections followed by the results, and resources and references.

The most prominent outcomes of this paper are: This poem and alike do not oppose modern literary criticism  theories.

Pre-Islamic literary texts comply with most of the artistic and aesthetic criteria required.

Linguistic and nonlinguistic features as facial expressions, hand  movements, head, sounds, breathes, outfit…etc.

support each other, what produces a set of signs and symbols.

Deep analysis of the body language is based on the functional  analysis of body organs, what makes this poem a praise of the feminine appreciation that depicts feminine impact motivates hidden language in senses.

Finally, this study recommends intensifying modern critical efforts in the direction of Pre-Islamic literary poetry.
