Differential ontology of Gilles Deleuze deals with the nature of identity by formulating a concept of difference as constitutive, rather than thinking that difference is an observable relationship between entities which are already established or known.

The traditional view towards the identity, unlike the tradition of differential ontology, attempts to situate the identity of a given thing in its essential properties, and this view almost occupies the entire history of philosophy.

In contrast, differential ontology of Deleuse includes identity as the ever-changing relationship of relationships in which identity is found as a secondary determination.
