Parliamentary life began in Jordan after the signing of the Jordanian British treaty in 1946 and under which Britain recognized the independence of Transjordan, followed by the conversion of the emirate to the Kingdom and the announcement of the constitution of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and became the legislative power is vested in the National Assembly and the King and composed the National Assembly of the Senate and the House of Representatives and consists of the House of of elected Rep resentatives representatives in accordance with the election law, which should be equitable representation takes into account the minorities, and that the duration of the House of Representatives four years, released after the election law to the House of Representatives, which took place whereby the Council of the first House of Representatives elections in October 1947, and the number of House of Representatives (20) deputies Distributors within constituencies across the UK, and this was the first parliament is based in the era of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has been chaired by Hashim good then Abdul Qadir hill, this Council resolve on the first of January 1950 before the end of the constitutional term in preparation for new elections include the two banks on the basis of unity signed between them, it has been a board second House of Representatives election on April 11, 1950, and in this Council was approved unity between the eastern and western shores of the project has been increased the number of seats from 20 seats to 40 seats for its membership includes 20 members from the West Bank, chaired this Council Omar Saeed Matar, followed by the Mufti Council has this solution on 3 May 1951.
