Abstract EN

This paper deals with the idea of inventing meaning which is an original idea in the critical heritage of the Arabs.

What is meant by this idea is the invented meaning and created analogies used by Arab poets, whether they belonged to Aljahelia, Islam or Modernity.

The paper deals with this idea using a preface, in which the researcher mentions the interest of the Arab critics in criticizing meaning, in referring to the types of meanings, in the separation between the invented meaning and other meanings that are in circulation, and then in defining invention and its specialization in meanings.

The researcher moves then to the essence of the research which reveals the critical rules that govern the invention of meanings and the creation of analogies through a historical chronology beginning with Ibn Salam al-Jamaji (d.

231 Hijri) to Diaa Al-Din Ibn Al-Atheer (d.

637 Hijri).

The research concludes with the most critical visions that critics addressed when they dealt with the invention of meanings.
