The Algerian Constitutional Council has, on many occasions, proved its ability to protect the Constitution, despite its limitations.

It plays a fundamental role in protecting constitutional principles and enshrining the gains of democracy in Algeria.

In practice, however, the Algerian Constitutional Council is faced with a series of obstacles that prevent it from performing its supervisory function to the fullest extent.
