Abstract EN

Although the Islamic banking industry has witnessed strong developments and growth rates, which have been reflected in the provision of legal and legislative frameworks and supervisory systems that take into account the Islamic Shari'a rules, and respect the rules of its activities and its operating systems, the Bank of Algeria, However, imposes traditional banking control laws and regulations on financial institutions that are not based on interest-bearing rules in their transactions and do not enshrine the principle of collateral in their contractual relations and take the principle of risk sharing as a central basis for their activity and business.

This study examines the effects of the Bank of Algeria's banking supervision on the development of the participatory banking experience in Algeria, by examining the case of Al Baraka Bank of Algeria as the first bank to adopt the Islamic banking model based on respect for financial transactions controls in the Islamic economy.

The study identifies the challenges and requirements necessary to develop the Islamic banking experience in Algeria.
