Abstract EN

There is no doubt that there is a strong relationship between translation and culture that stems from diversity and multiculturalism.

Although translation has largely broken the barriers which used to divide communities.

Direct communication is henceforth available in shade of globalization and openness.

But in some cases it still depends on the extent of translation-culture relationship.

Culture is a set of customs, traditions, values and principles inherited by generations in order to maintain communication and promote awareness among these generations and translation is the means of transfering and preserving it and this task may sometimes be difficult because we deal with litteral cultural texts.

Among the cultural texts, we have proverbs which represent the experiences of the previous generations, and have been controversial in the field of translation research.

Hence, our research paper aims to study the proverbs translation for both interpretative and cultural theories.

So could the interpretative theory be more efficient in translating proverbs than the cultural one which used to be predominant in such texts taking into consideration that the meaning takes a great part in the interpretative theory as with proverbs ?
