Abstract EN

This study addressed the domestic violence against the girls in the Saudi society and its impact on the academic attainment in order to identify its common patterns, the prevalence of each pattern, and the causes of violence, and the resulting negative effects on the educational attainment of the girl.

The study covered five high schools in east of Riyadh, each with similar characteristics to serve the objectives of the study and answer the questions of the study where the researcher used the steps and procedures of the analytical descriptive method for its appropriateness to the nature of the study.

Data were collected from (199) persons through questionnaires, and a systematic random sample was withdrawn and then a simple random sample, accounting to 1% of the total size of the community, and data were processed using arithmetic duplicates and means, and some advanced statistical tests.

The results of the study showed that verbal violence is the most common, and that fathers practice the most violence against their daughters, and there are several reasons for domestic violence, including social, religious, educational, environmental and economic, where its significance varies according to the study variables, and one of the main effects of domestic violence on academic attainment is poor concentration, mental distraction, lower education level, poor self-confidence, convergence, lack of motivation and desire for education, and frequent school absenteeism.

The study reached important results that there is an inverse relationship between domestic violence and academic attainment, where higher domestic violence at home means lower academic attainment of Saudi girls, as there is a direct correlation between family stability and academic attainment, where higher family stability at home means higher academic attainment of Saudi girls.
