الخصائص الإحصائية لتوزيع درجات طلبة الشهادة الثانوية العامة في الجمهورية العربية السورية للعام الدراسي (2013 2014)‎

Abstract EN

The objective of this research is to analyze the students’ grades of the secondary school certificate (scientific, literary) in the Syrian Arab Republic, and reveal the statistical properties of the distributions of grades in the final outcome, and each subject.

Besides, this study aims to compare students’ estimates which were approved by the Ministry of Education to the ideal distribution, identify if the distributions properties differ according to sex, and study the differences between their grades.

The study included all the original society of the research that consisted of (261734) students who have applied for secondary certificate tests in the academic year 2013/2014.

The researcher followed the descriptive analytical approach to answer the research questions.

The most important results were: - All secondary certificate students’ grades in the two branches (scientific, literary) deviate from the normal distribution.

- Most of the students’ grades in the scientific branch tend to rise, and the percentages of the excellent estimates in the final outcome and each subject were higher than the normal distribution.

- Most of the literary students’ estimates were weak, with the exception of English, followed by National Education, which their excellent estimates were higher than normal distribution clearly.

- There were statistically significant differences between the means of the males' grades and the means of the females' grades in each subject .
