Abstract EN
Since the 1980’s research on teachers’ and learners’ beliefs got ample concern from educationilsts and practitioners in order to acount for the multitude of teaching and learning hindrances that are daily encountred by both teachers and learners in language classroom.
However, attention has so far been concentrated on language learning with relation to skills and content, but little attention was directed to language learning with relation to advanced learners’ performance at academic research. This study aimed to address this gap and examined teachers’ beliefs about their EFL learners’ thoughts and practices at academic research.Thirteen teachers of English as a foreign language participated in this study.
The present inquiry not only intends to unveil the beliefs that teachers hold about their learners’ aptitude, motivation, expectations, the nature of academic research and the strategies used, but also to assess the areas of beliefs that are shared by the teachers and to determine the reality of how teachers viewed this situation.
