Abstract EN

The present study aimed to detect the statistical approaches used in the means of Master theses and dissertations PhD in the Faculty of Education at the (University of Damascus) in (Education and Educational Psychology) from 1980 to 2009.

The study sample consisted of (172) Master theses and Ph.D which were selected randomly.

The study revealed that the most commonly statistical used in master thsese were (t-test)with a percentage) (29.739%) followed by (descriptive statistics) by (17.974%), and correlations by (12.418%) and scarcity in the use of statistical approaches of the advanced type (such as interaction analysis and factor analysis, analysis and path analysis).

And the most statistical approaches commonly used in doctoral theses were also a t-test (t) with perscentage (24.038%) followed by (descriptive statistics)by (14.423%) and then (ANOVA) at a rate (13.461%).

The study also revealed that the PhD students mostly used the following statistical Approaches (one way analysis variance ANOVA, and regression analysis with tow or more, and interaction analysis, and factor analysis) of the MA students, in accordance with the time evolution.

And as the study revealed that there were no statistically significant differences at(α = 0.05)in the type of statistical analysis across short time periods and that there were statistically significant difference at long time durations intervals.
