Abstract EN

This paper is studying the effect of optimal coordination between Thyristor Controlled and phase shifter (TCPS) and power system Stabilizer (PSS) in improving stability of power system.

The design problem of PSS and TCPS controllers individually and coordination between PSS and TCPS is devel-oped as a problematic optimum utilization with objective function based on eigenvalue of system ma-trix .

The PSO algorithm used to find the optimal parameters of controllers.

The analysis of eigenvalue and The nonlinear time-domain simulation have been implemented to study the effectiveness of the coordinated controller, its simulated and tested under three operating conditions including normal light and heavy loading with temporary fault on infinite bus.

Results of The eigenvalue analysis and simulation appear that the coordinated design of controllers is able to enhancing the damping of the rotor modes and provide better damping and improve power system stability.
