The aim of these lines is to discuss the concept of "Intermediate Language" and its impact on language learning by tackling two strategies: interference and over-generalization.

These latter are basic in interpreting the nature of errors and the quality of difficulties faced by the second language learner.

Our presentation is based on the models and examples included in the observations of Al-Jãhidh (255 Hijri) on the levels of linguistic expression among the Ajamis (non-Arabs), and among the Arabs who grew up among them.
