Abstract EN

The main object of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between ‘‘autonomous linguistics’’ And ‘‘ Cognitive Linguistics’’ ; this relanships is based in the contreveversial topics constituted by a cluster of trends in formalist, especially Chomskyan linguistics, trends which may conveniently be brought under the heading ‘‘autonomous linguistics.’’ It will be seen the curent study that ‘‘autonomy’’is not a simple notion when applied to linguistic theory.

It might therefore be inappropriate to characterize a theory outright as ‘‘autonomous’’ or ‘nonautonomous.’’ Equally suspect could be the view that Cognitive Linguistics rejects autonomy in all its guises.
