تقييم رحلات غير العمل للوافدين المقيميين في مدينة الرياض : دراسة في الخصائص و التوزيعات الجغرافية

Abstract EN

The purpose of this study was to identify factors behind expatriate’s journey to non-work, and their properties.

It seem that there is an urgent need to study the characteristics of daily journey to non-work for expatriates residing in Riyadh city and the distributions of those trips because of its importance in urban traffic planning.

Results of this study show that, more than half of the study sample had used a private car and walking for non- work trips, while the users of Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) did not reach 1 % of total expatriates.

The study, also, identified that the vast majority (92 %) of expatriates did not exceed 2 km in their journey for shopping, which means short geographical scope for of journey to non-work.

The study came up with main recommendation that, there is a need for conducting a thorough research about SAPTCO and its role in transporting expatriates, and promoting SAPTCO services to shopping, parks and open areas.

It is hope that, this will encourage effective use of public transport services, better than the current use.
