The historical writings are one of the most important sources of the history of the Algerian during the Empire Ottoman era, because it is the truest source, and the closest to the truth.

Among the 18th century sources used to be the writings of the Tunisian historian Mohammad As-Sagir Ben Yusuf, in the author of the "Masra al- mulki fi saltanat awlad Ali Turki ".

He has left important information about the city of Oran, the West Algerian, and the Turkish-Spanish tensions, and conflicts in order to control the city.

The historic writing of the author of the "Masra al- mulki" reflects the interest of North African historians in Algeria at that period, and gives the reader a vivid glimpse of his farming style profession, written about the city of Oran and its political life during the 18th century.

It even reflected its effect on the political events in Tunisia in time of Civil War (1728-1740) between Hussain bin Ali, the legitimate ruler of Tunisia, his nephew Ali Pasha, the rebels, and the refugees of Algiers.

Those latter postponed his support in his inauguration on the throne in Tunis, because of their preoccupation with the fall of Oran in the hands of Spanish in 1732.
