Abstract EN

The present study aimed to identify the relationship between psychological security and self-esteem as factors related to political participation in a random sample of males and females in different age stages.

The study sample consisted of employees of the Alexandria and Tanta Universities (N = 140), aged between 20-60 years, (27.21) years, with a standard deviation of (9.91).

The measure of political participation was used by the researcher, in addition to the Maslow Psychometric Scale, Taylor's Measure of Uncertain Concern by Mustafa Fahmy and Mohamed Ahmed Ghali, A Guide to Self-Esteem by Magdy Mohamed El-Desouky, List of Thinking Styles for Sternberg & Wagner, The Arabization of Mr.

Abouhashem.

Impulse measurement, attention, cognition, remembering by the researcher.

The results showed: 1.

There is a positive correlation statistically significant between some psychological factors (psychological security – self_ esteem - impulsivity), some cognitive factors (Attention / Perception / memory / thinking) and political participation among a sample of male and female, while no statistically significant negative relational between (anxiety) and political participation relationship among a sample of males and females.

There are significant differences between the mean scores of participants and non-participants politically in some psychological factors (psychological security / self _esteem/ impulsivity), some cognitive factors (Attention / perception / memory / thinking ) for the benefit of political participants, while there are significant differences between the mean scores of participants and non-participants politically worrying for the benefit of non-participants politically.

There are significant differences between the mean scores of male and female (Anxiety / impulsivity), (Attention / memory) in favor of females, while there is no significant difference statistically between the mean scores of male and female in the (psychological security / self _esteem), (thinking / perception).

There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of male and female political participation 5.

can predict the level of political participation among males and females through their grades in some psychological factors (Anxiety / psychological security / self _esteem impulsivity), (attention / perception / memory / thinking).

 Less psychological factors that help to predict the level of political participation among males and females is a worry.

More psychological factors that help to predict the level of political participation among males and females are impulsivity.

 Less cognitive characteristics that help to predict the level of political participation among males and females is remembering.
