In spite of the existence of previous laws and of some objections to it on the ground that it contained some flaws given that it came after parliamentary life had come to a halt since 1967, the 1989 Election Law is amongst the best election laws in the Kingdom.
It was met with approval by the public because it allowed all political currents in the Kingdom to participate in the elections on the basis of open lists, enabling voters to elect more than one candidate to serve the Country.
