Abstract EN

This study aims to highlight Mahmoud Darwish's poem (About Nothingness) using what the principal of coherence offers ; procedural tools and elements that done to interpret the text.

This poem has been chosen with the aim of creating a comprehensible interpretation for it for many reasons.

Firstly, it is covered with ambiguity that make it's meanings and intentions mistaken.

Secondly, it's constitution is based on symbolism.

Thirdly, it has no specific known context that guides the reader to decompose and analyze it's symbolism and aims.

The researcher uses five mechanisms of the coherence approach ; matisation, topic of discourse, the context and its characteristics, background knowledge and macru structure trying to create coherence with the text of the poem and reduce the anxiety ( tension) that is produced by the communicative process by clarifying the intended objective of the poem, instituting a context from inside it, trying to compare it with other poetic and prosaic works of the poet and written interviews with him, and exploring its discourse and macru structure.
