Abstract EN

The Discovery of oil is considered the second most important event in the contemporary history of Saudi Arabia following its unification at the hands of king Abdul Aziz Al-Saud.

Oil exports provided huge financial revenues for the State Which were used for the development and modernization of the country.

It also played an important role in the development of the political relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America.

The story of oil in the kingdom Started with the singing of the concession agreement between the Saudi government and Standard oil company of California (SOCAL) on the 29th of May 1933 and as a result of that a new company: Arabian California Standard oil Company (CASOC) was established.

The company Started prospecting for oil until it was discovered in 1938.

in 1944 the name of the company was changed to the Arabian American oil company (Aramco).

The company overcame several huge difficulties before signing the oil agreement including fierce international competition for oil reservoirs, monopoly attempts, regional conflicts along with the far- distanced location of the two countries.

This paper seeks to shed light on the role of CASOC Company in influencing the policy of the United States of America towards the region in general and the establishment of strong political and economic relations between Riyadh and Washington in particular following the historic meeting between King Abdul Aziz and president Franklyn D Roosevelt in 1945.

In the main time the paper discusses the role by the company in obtaining American financial support for the Saudi government in its financial crises during the Second World War.
