Abstract EN

The study aimed to identify the attitudes of special education teachers towards the importance of the developmental skills and abilities of children with mental disabilities in the primary stage, and to identify the relationship between teacher attitudes and some variables such as gender, qualifications and experience.

The questionnaire was designed to identify the importance of developmental skills and abilities of children with mental disabilities at the primary level from the point of view of special education teachers.

The questionnaire was based on previous Arab and foreign studies related to the current study, for example, based on the researcher's experience.

The study used the descriptive analytical method.

The study sample consisted of (145) special education teachers in the institute of intellectual education and integration programs in regular schools in Jeddah.

The most important findings of the study are the following: 1- 1-Teachers of special education face many problems in employing modern technologies in the education of the mentally handicapped, and then develop their skills and abilities.

2- Male and female teachers have positive attitudes towards the importance of the developmental skills and abilities of children with mental disabilities at the primary level.

3- There are no statistically significant differences in the attitudes of the special education teachers towards the importance of the developmental skills and abilities of mentally handicapped children in the primary stage due to the variable of the social situation.

4- There are no statistically significant differences in attitudes towards special education teachers towards the importance of the developmental skills and abilities of children with mental disabilities in the primary stage due to the variable of scientific qualification
