Abstract EN

The paper discusses the occupation wars and military interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan during the last decades, and their representations in the Iraqi novels that published in 2004-2013 in comparison with khaled Hosseini's novels.

And it addressed the wars from Soviet intervention and the US invasion of Afghanistan to the Iraq-Iran war, First Gulf War, and Us invasion of Iraq.

The study of the novels revealed the economic and social aftermath of these events on both Iraqi and Afghani societies.

Also physical, and psychological impacts can be seen on the wars victims, either they were military personnel or civilians.

The research employed the Comparative cultural Studies approaches to analyze the phenomenon of wars and interventions in the novels in order to criticize the war as a violent mean to compete over power and hegemony.

Then it showed similarities and differences of war representations between Iraqi novels and Hosseini's novels.

The paper found that the novels had covered the persistent wars events in both countries.

And that the war was a tool in the hands of regional and international conflicting forces.

As well the fiction works expressed the size of destruction occurred in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The study shows the relation between war and power as well as the complicated relation of culture production and power forces.
