This research examines the rivalry between Sinclair Co.

and the Japanese government, whose forces occupied parts of eastern Siberia and northern Sakhalin island, and the Soviet position on the competition.

As the Soviet leaders wanted to exploit this competition for the withdrawal of Japanese troops from those areas occupied by the Soviet Union and to obtain recognition of the United States for its regime that came to power in 1917 .
