Abstract EN

The aim of the study was to identify the most important factors affecting the demand for flour commodity in the Green Mountain region the income category of the sample as a whole indicates that the quantity of the required (demanded) commodity was affected by four direct variables: educational level of the head of household; The average household income, the size of households, the price of alternative goods (rice) and, conversely, with the price of the commodity itself (flour).

The estimated double logarithmic function showed that the elasticity of price demand of flour was negative and was reached (0.149);the income elasticity equal to (0.632).

The elasticity of demand for the price of alternative goods (cross elasticity) is Reaching (0.431).

The values of income and price elasticities for the three categories and the sample as a whole showed that the flour commodity is a good and necessary for its consumers The study focused on a number of recommendations, including attention to the production of wheat locally through support to farmers, which reduces the food gap of this commodity in Libya and thus contribute to reduce the quantities imported Of wheat and flour, to provide appropriate stores in the production and consumption areas that will provide the commodity in a time of shortage, to educate citizens through the media, not to over-consume this commodity .
