Abstract EN

Stylistics is the most widely used issue in the literary studies.

It aims at identifying the linguistic patterns of usage and meanings of literary texts and showing the formal features and their functional significance in the texts.

The present study is concerned with a stylistic analysis of Hemingway's " A very Short Story ".

It aims at exploring sentence complexity and length to see how the incorporation of linguistics within any literary text can be used as a direct means to convey the message that may underlie any text.

As far as sentence length and complexity are concerned, Halliday's model (1985) has been used.

The study concludes that essential ideas have been encoded in complex and lengthy sentences.
