The aim of our choosing the theory of al-Hijaj (argumentation) as an aspect of renewal in the analysis of Arabic linguistic discourse is that its premises revolve around the common saying "we generally speak to make an influence".

Al-Hijaj (argumentation) is a semantic theory which attempts to show that language itself carries an argumentative function, and this function is embodied in the structure of discourse with all its vocal, morphological, lexical, structural and semantic aspects.

this concept heavily relies on the bases that linguistic discourse analysis rests upon in the Arabic tradition.

Abdulla Sawlah is one of the main scholars who adopted and implemented this theory on qur'anic texts through observing traditional sayings that are considered highlights in arabic discourse analysis in this field, in his book (al-Hijaj fi al Qur'an al-Kareem min Khilal Aham Khasa'isihi al-Islobiyya).

here some questions rise, among which the most important are: how did the author dealt with this theory? what are the renewal aspects in it? how did the author benefit from the bases of this theory in analyzing the qur'anic discourse?
