Abstract EN
It is well known that the false door is one of the most characteristic elements of an Ancient Egyptian tomb, particularly in the Old Kingdomi .
It was originally part of the north exterior wall of the mastaba, but in the course of time, was moved inside the tomb to the west wall of the offering chapel.
Many tombs have more than one false door, however, some have them both inside and outside.
This monument marks the transition between the world of the living and the realm of the dead.
Through it, the deceased’s ka can move in and out to receive the offerings which his relatives or the professional ka-priest bring him every day.
For this purpose an offering slab is usually put in front of the false door.
As the false door is usually inscribed with the titles and name of its owner, the study of this kind of the Egyptian monuments might help to identify an unknown person or to shed light on a specific title.
This study concerns two monuments of a certain Nedjem-ib that are currently housed in the Cairo Egyptian Museum.
None of these two monuments has received much attention in the past, and certainly not their own dedicated study.
