Most researchers interested in studying the Arab cities focus their studies on mosques, milestones, markets as well as the dwellings.

Some of concentrated their research only on the urban fabric and all the latest are considered as the study of the urban and architectural phenomena in the Arab Islamic cities.

However, all of them were dealing only with the archeological milestones mentioned so far and architectural phenomena without giving any importance to the subject of vaulted.

The French orientalists on their side rarely spoke about vaulted in a detailed way.

Though their studies mentioned the vaulted names, locations at that time without taking into consideration their formal frame, nor describing their nature and types.

We should emphasize on the fact that the interest in building vaultedes dates back to the prophet’s Mohamed (peace be upon him) Era through the building of BeniSaàda penthouse as well as in the Umayyad period in Sham, then, the tradition was passed to the Abbasids who built vaulted in their castles.
