Abstract EN

The study aimed to discern the teaching methods used by the faculty members of teaching Arabic for non-native speakers from their perspective.

the sample of the study included faculty members who have been teaching Arabic for non-native speakers in Jordanian universities, which is (36) faculty members from universities of (Jordanian, world Islamic sciences and education, al al-Bayt and Yarmouk).

the researchers designed a two- part questioner: the first part included information about the faculty members such as: (gender, years of experience, and an academic rank), while the second part included teaching methods of Arabic for non-native speakers.

the study results were as follows: methods (silent, natural and cognitive) had obtained highest estimations, while (total physical response, communicative and attitudes) methods, had obtained lowest estimations.

and there were significant statistical differences at the level of significance (α=0.05) due to gender variable.

also there were no significant statistical differences at level (α=0.05) due to following variables : (teaching experience and academic ranking).

the study recommended that universities should organize training courses in the teaching methods for members of Arabic teaching for non-native speakers emphasizing the following methods (total physical response, attitudes and eclectic).
