English Abstract

In line with the increased interest in research and development in all fields, the current global trends of research are moving towards the promotion of collaborative and joint research within the socalled research groups or research teams.

Such trends have also stressed the pivotal role of diversifying such groups/teams to encompass researchers form various disciplines and scientific backgrounds, multidisciplinary researcher groups/teams.

Building on the diversity of multidisciplinary research work, such groups could work more effectively to address wider range of research topics that go beyond a single discipline and thus produce more results of higher socioeconomic impact.

Therefore, higher education intuitions all over should give a special focus on not only enhancing such group work but also ensuring that there is a consistency between the vision and strategic plan of academic institution on the one hand, and the scope of work of research groups/teams on the other hand.

This study aims to shed the light on the Islamic Universities of Gaza’s experience in establishing and institutionalizing research groups through a set of programmes which have been supervised by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies at the university.
