Abstract EN

Settlement as an ancient human phenomenon, man himself, has been linked to the growth and expansion of nations and empires throughout history and has been an important factor in the emergence of civilizations around the globe; the heavenly laws confirm that God created man and made the earth his home.

With the emergence of the colonial movement and its development in the modern and contemporary period, settlement has become a large-scale housing operation in the occupied territory, under the pretext of reconstruction and the establishment of the dominant state control of the land that annexed and considered it a part.

His motives may be religious.

France, as a colonial power, has settled the colonization of the colonists since the early years of its occupation of Algeria.

It began expropriating the land from the "natives" and handing it over to the new colonizers in various ways and ways, exploiting the resistance of the Algerians to impose collective punishments.

The most important areas that have suffered from settlement expansion are the Chlef basin area, the size of its agricultural area, the fertility of its lands and the diversity of its soil.

Therefore, the exotic agriculture practiced by European settlers such as chromium, tobacco and cotton, as well as the prevailing crops such as grain, olive trees, vegetables, fruits and others, succeeded.

The impact of the settlement presence on the agricultural activity of the Algerians even after the alleged reforms adopted by the colonial administration at the end of its presence in Algeria.

The agricultural activity of the European settlers differed from the agricultural activity of the Muslims in terms of type, production, yield and agricultural units.

Which has created the existence of two distinct sectors, a modern sector and a poor traditional sector.

This has negatively affected the social situation and standard of living of Algerian Muslims in general and peasants, especially those who constituted the majority of the department population
