Water is an essential element for the life everywhere, It is the necessary condition in the emergence of all the civilizations known to the world since ancient times, And if the water in places where there is plenty, is an element of addition and not so important in the diary of the people, It is in the desert that it is of the utmost importance, which life depends it.

This research focuses on giving an overview of the various aspects of water in the Algerian Sahara from the far west to the Far East, Which takes three main styles : A - Valleys: One of the most important sources of water financing in the dry Sahara, Which fall in the northern region, and flow through the sewers that descend from the desert atlas to the sand areas in the south, On the banks of these valleys, life has been flourished, dozens of villages and oases have been built.

B - Wells: This is the second important mode of water supply in most saharian oases, population centers and even caravan lines, It abounds from the western of Sahara to its east, Where they are used for watering plantations, And feed from the vast aquifer that moves underground.

C - The Chotts : large basins formed from the pool of running valleys, then evaporate and leaves large areas of salt.

The research also gives an overview of the methods used in different regions of the Sahara in extraction and exploiting available water, whether in valleys or wells, And gives an idea of some of the techniques used in the extraction of water from the ground and the drilling and construction of wells.
