English Abstract
The study aim edatinvestigating the availability extent of the environmental education concepts in the textbooks of social education for the higher elementary stage from the point of view of its teachers in Jordan, using the questionnaire included (45) items, divided into two domains: the domain of natural environmental education and the domain of industrial environmental education.
The descriptive analytical method was used, and the study community consisted of all male and female teachers who taught the textbooks of social education for the higher elementary stage in the schools of the Directorate of Education in Irbid, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Education in Jordan in the second semester of the academic year 2018/2019.
The study sample consisted of (127) male and female teachers who were randomly selected from the study community.
The results of the study showed that the degree of availability of environmental concepts in the textbooks of social studies in the higher elementary stage in Jordan from the point of view of its teachers was medium, but that the concepts of industrial environmental education were higher than the concepts of natural environment education and also in a medium degree.
In light of its results, the study recommended that the curricula of social studies should be reviewed in order to develop them in a manner consistent with local environmental issues.
