Abstract EN

The objective of this study is to assess the reality of African economic integration by analyzing the results of the African Regional Integration Handbook of the African Union of 2016.

This latter is been adopted as a tool to assess the performance of the eight African economic groups through its constituent dimensions and sub-indicators that are distributed under these scopes.

The study concluded that Africa had an average of 0.45 of 1, this rate who is below the median reflecting the slow pace of the African integration process compared with the stages set by the Abuja Agreement since 1994.In order to improve the situation of African integration, the African Union has adopted a number of initiatives and reforms, beginning with the adoption of the Minimum Integration Plan and the Continental Free Trade Area project,.

The COMESA, SADC and EAC have also begun negotiations for a free trade area
