Abstract EN

This paper aims at tackling the issue of moving the us embassy from tel aviv to jerusalem, through answering some of the focal questions, that is : to what extent does the us policy towards jerusalem complies with purposes and objectives of the united nations set forth in its charter? and what are the reasons which led the american president (donald trump) to declare his recognition of jerusalem as the capital of israel and therefore moving the embassy to honor this declaration? and lastly, whether this action complies with the us role as a broker to the palestinian- israeli peace process? in order to reach an answer for these questions, we analyzed the policy of the united states of america towards the city of jerusalem ; through analyzing the positions of the past administrations in dealing with the issue of moving the embassy in particular.

to reach the goals set forth in this paper, we used the descriptive analytical approach and the comparative foreign policy approach.

the study also reviewed the main reasons that prompted the american president (donald trump) to take this decision; most importantly : the presence of the most steadfast presidential advisors who are proponent to israel, the leverage of the zionist lobby in the united states, and the presi attempt to win the potion of the evangelical groups who are loyal to the zionism.
