Abstract EN

The thesis deals with the lineaments of Intertextuality in the classical Arabic literary Criticism through texts in which tlie author articulated critical opinions that meet, to a reasonable extent, tlie argument of mcdem literary criticism, in theory and practice.

This study lias been divided into four chapters.

The first chapter has dealt with the historical explanation of Intertextualitv in the modem literary criticism, i.e.

formation, development and founders.

In the same chapter, the degree of reception by the modem Arab critics was discussed.

At the end of the chapter, tlie main and important concepts and principles of Intertextualitv were summarized.

In the second chapter, the study lias presented the forms and patterns of the theory that were founded in the classical Arabic Criticism in terms of critical and rhetorical terminologies which carry characteristics of Intcrtcxtuality in both types: static and dynamic terminologies.

Tlie third chapter has approached the features of Intertextual Theory in tlie classical Arabic Criticism at the dimension of critical issues and critics' views in poetic arts, which are tied and connected to Intertextuality.

This was achieved by addressing tlie relationship between plagiarism and Intertextuality, introducing the relationship between the art of "Annaqqa'ith” and Intertextuality', and finally, providing an overture tlie relationship between “Al- Mou’aradat" and Intertextuality as seen by tlie classical Arab critics.

Tlie fourth chapter has discusscd the applications of Intcrtcxtuality in the classical Arabic Criticism using books written about plagiarism.

These books have been selected to present the objective critics' writings as well as the subjective critic’ writings.

Exploration of the critical views in plagiarism hela by each party were reviewed, and findings tlie common lineaments between diese views were highlighted.
