Abstract EN
Background : Papular urticaria is a common and often annoying disorder manifested by chronic papules caused by a hypersensitivity reaction.
The link between atopic immune responses (high serum IgE, IL-4) and the development of rash is clear and has been ex-tensively evaluated in the literature.
Aim: This study was designed to find possible co relation between serum levels of IgE and IL-4 and popular urticaria.
Patient and Meth-ods : A case control study was done that included 30 patients and 30 controls who were selected randomly according to the eligibility criteria.
Assessment of serum IG-E and IL-4 levels was evaluated using sandwich ELISA approach.
Results : Twenty-six patients (87 %) have borderline level of IgE, 1 (3 %) have high level, while normal IgE level was found in 3 (10 %).
In the control group, 3 subjects (10 %) have borderline level of IgE and 27 (90 %) have normal level, while no subject had high IgE level were found.
Conclusions: The pre-sent study confirmed the significantly higher values of serum IgE and IL-4 in papular ur-ticaria patients.
There was statistically significant correlation between the IL-4 and IgE levels in papularr urticaria patients.
