Abstract EN

In old Arabic dictionaries, narration is used in the sense of weaving.

The ancient Arabic poetry includes the art of poetic poetry where poets were able to record in their poetry events, people, time, place, problems and solutions, making the narrative poem one of the styles of ancient Arabic poetry.

Narrativity is apparent in their poetry and their Ayyām (days).

Moreover, Imru’ al-Qais can be called "the father of the narrative poem" in ancient Arabic poetry.

His Mu'allaqah (long poem) includes more than one story.

If Imru’ al-Qais was the founder of the narrative poem in ancient Arabic poetry, it was Al-A'sha who developed it writing a more realistic poetry on topics, other than hunting and battles, such as the habits and values of community.

He was the leader of social realism at that time, surpassing Imru’ al-Qais.

The narrative poem is thus a narrative space for the movements of characters, events, time and place with the poetic nature of the text, i.e.

language, rhythm and imagery, intact.
