Since 1950’s, economic zones has increased sharply in the global economy, both in developed and developing countries with different types and shapes base on its goals and aims, however, many of them have failed.
As a result this research paper ask whether the successful of economic zones is related the stage of competitive development.
We firstly start with brief definition of this kind of zones, and then a summary of the types based on the aims of creation.
Lastly, we found that a huge relationship between stage of economic development and the different types of economics zones; industrial parks, special economic zones, ecoindustrial parks, technology parks and innovation district respectively.
Finally,we present economic zones in China and its creations according to economic development, as an evidence to prove our theoretical finding
