Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to show: (The critical trends of Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan in appreciating Arabic poetry), it shows his life and upbringing, his poetics, his narrating and citing of poetry, his admiration and criticizing of the different genres of poetry and his methods in differentiation between poets, the study objective was to present Abd al-Malik as discreet critic who has high status as a critic that is not less than his political status.

The study reached that he used the sincerity as a preferential criterion for assessing poets.

The study used the descriptive analytical method.
