The aim of this article is to provide a critical reading of Ibn Salam Al-Jumhi's "Layers of the Poets" by raising two points: the first concerns the critical issues in the book; the second concerns the critical approach and its technical criteria, this latter casts the spotlight on the critical standards on which the classification of classes was based, and the foundations adopted in the determination of the class and its poets.
This was followed by a study of the method of narration of poems and news, and some of the problems of the book and its critical value.
