Abstract EN

This paper studies al-Tahir Wattar’s al-Sham’a wa al-Dahaliz (the Candle and the Vestibules) which takes, as its subject matter, the developments that took place in Algeria before the election of 1992, which the Algerian government annulled its results.

It also studies how the writer, in a novel where reality and dream, the present and the past, the physical and the metaphysical, are all juxtaposed and intertwined together, was able to depict those developments and their political, social, and culture roots which go back to the era of the French colonization of Algeria.
